FAQs for Duncan /Collections

1.) I am an E-ZPass customer, and I received a violation, but I thought it was a mistake since I have an account. Why did I receive a violation?

a. E-ZPass customers receive violations when their transponder is not read when exiting and the license plate of the vehicle is not listed on their account OR your E-ZPass account was not in good standing on the day of travel. Contact the PTC E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1.877.736.6727 to update your account or get in back into good standing.

2.) Can I have the violation appealed to my E-ZPass account now, once I rectify the issue?
a. Unfortunately, that is not possible. E-ZPass customers can only appeal the notice to their account prior to it being sent to the collection agency (up to 60 days). Once it has been sent to collections, the PA Turnpike Commission requires you pay the notice.

3.) I received a TOLL BY PLATE invoice from the PA Turnpike, why is the collection agency calling me?
a. PA Turnpike customers who travel through TOLL BY PLATE locations without a valid E-ZPass account will be sent an invoice. Customers have 30 days to pay the invoice before a second invoice is sent that includes a late fee. The PA Turnpike sends TOLL BY PLATE invoices that remain unpaid after 60 days to a collection agency and adds a collection fee.

4.) I received a bunch of violation notices with an image of a vehicle, but it wasn’t my vehicle. I ignored them, but now the collection agency is calling me. What do I do?
a. Although the PTC cannot process an appeal, send any supporting documentation you have to us for review. The documentation such as a letter from the DMV, bill of sale, registration, etc.) should be sent to 300 East Park Drive Harrisburg, PA 17111. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for the PTC E-ZPass Customer Service Center to process your request.

5.) I received violations from the PA Turnpike for driving through an E-ZPass lane without an E-Zpass but paid them. But now I have a letter from a collection agency for a TOLL BY PLATE invoice. Isn’t that the violation that I paid? Is the collection agency trying to scam me?
a. Violation notices and TOLL BY PLATE invoices are two different things. A violation notice is issued when your vehicle travels through an E-ZPass Only lane without having a valid E-ZPass account. The violation notice was issued because you failed to pay the toll at the time of travel. The TOLL BY PLATE invoice was sent to you when your vehicle traveled through a cashless tolling location without a valid E-ZPass transponder being account. A TOLL BY PLATE invoices was issued to you for your travel with the toll amount owed. TOLL BY PLATE locations on the PA Turnpike include Delaware River Bridge, Clarks Summit and Keyser Avenue on the Northeast Extension, Beaver Valley Expressway (I-376) and Findlay Connector (I-576) do not accept. More information on the PA Turnpike’s cashless tolling program is available at www.paturnpike.com/nocashzone.

6.) I got a letter saying I owe the collection agency for some PA Turnpike invoices. Who do I pay them to? The Turnpike or the collection agency? How do I pay them?
a. Payments can be made to either the Turnpike or the collection agency. Both organizations have a fiduciary duty to report any payments processed on the next business day. Payments for the amounts owed can be made via check, money order or credit card payment to either organization. Credit card payments can also be made by phone or via the website.

7.) How can I find out more about the debt that the collection agency is billing me for?
a. To find out more information on what was sent to collections, you may call Professional Account Management (PAM) at 1.866.802.0066 or the PA Turnpike E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1.877.736.6727 and a representative will be happy to assist you.

8.) My bill says I owe $500 dollars, but I can’t afford to pay that. Can I pay in monthly installments?
a. The PTC does not typically offer monthly installment payment plans. However, if you are still in possession of the toll ticket from the date of travel or a valid E-ZPass transponder, the PTC may be able to reduce the toll and/or administrative fees. Send the information to the PTC E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 300 East Park Drive Harrisburg, PA 17111 or call 1.877.736.6727 to speak with a representative.
